July 19, 2008 PJSD Charity Game

Mt Laurel saw a very close game between two co-ed teams made up of members of the Sadistic Sweethearts, Fallen Angels, Dishonor Roll and Hooligans on Saturday night. This was a charity game to benefit autism.

The Temper Tantrums emerged the winners over the Hissy Fits by a close score of 47-45, as a result of the 4 points scored by Lucky Luciano on the next to last jam. The Hissy Fits could have won the game, but their jammer Wags was only able to come up with two points due to the heavy blocking by Lucky and the other Temper Tantrums.

There was some controversy over the final jam when the jammers did not hear the 2nd whistle. Skip Schoen did confirm that he blew the whistle, but none of us heard it. As a result, the Hissy Fits issued a challenge for a rematch, which was turned down by the Temper Tantrums.

There were a couple injuries - Miss Chievous’ knee pad shifted and she went down hard on her exposed knee. At the after party she was spotted limping to the tiki bar. Hella Kitty took a very hard fall, her husband had to carry her off the track, but she was seen walking on her own at the after-party. Also, Late T Bug took out the announcer’s table and then went face and shoulder first into the wall. She got up and shook it off. Kudos to all of them!

This game also saw the debut of Hot Rod Hussy as an announcer. She did a very good job along side Ken Sykes and Judy Sowinski. Also, the “Polish Ace” was head referee for the first period.

My hat is off to all of the rookies who skated their first game. Best of luck to all of you! The skating improves with each game and this game was no exception. One last note, a shout out to Classy Chassis for executing an excellent leg whip to her jammer. It was a thrill for an old-school fan like me!
